We have taken care to ensure that this product will accommodate the needs of professional photographers who expect the highest standards in every piece of equipment. Therefore we did not just want any old padded wrap so we designed our wraps employing the principles similar to those used in medical pressure care, which are, to provide pressure relief to bony/muscular prominences by maximizing surface area contact to the skin and spreading load. Also to ensure that the users skin is aerated and shear forces are reduced.
Materials:
The outer fabric is made from a Polyamide material which has exceptionally high abrasion resistance but at the same time, has a soft feel. This fabric also aerates when in contact with the skin and will not hold water such as perspiration which could lead to rashes or blisters. The inside gripping surface is a rubber like neoprene closed cell foam which is highly durable and provides superior grip to the tripod/monopole leg. The pad inside is made from a light high quality closed cell foam, which is soft enough to maximize the surface area and spread the weight, but not too soft causing the monopole leg to bottom out against the user's shoulder. This foam also has very good resilience and will not flatten out over time. The Monopole Wrap has 12mm closed cell foam and the two Tripod Wraps have 6mm foam.
Construction:
You will notice before applying the Wrap that it is shaped a little like your hand. We figured that a hand is pretty good at gripping, so why not apply the same logic. The inside gripping surface is smaller than the outer surface so it naturally wraps around the pole. The fingers in this case are the three large hook Velcro tabs that adhere to any where on the outer fabric, so it can be secured tightly. The combination of the inside rubberized grip surface and the adjustable Velcro tabs will ensure that the Wraps will not cause irritation to the user by sliding down the pole.
